Show ington Seeks Another School FARMINGTON Farmington Domsntary School PTA member ,,'ceeenUd their cam for new elementary school to the Davie County School District Board and have received some encouraging results but still no firm commitment from the board. The parents complained that the Farmington Elementary School ia overcrowded and some students have to be bused to Kayrviile to attend classes. The parents want a new school built in the city by 1880 to accommodate the load. Beth Margets, a Farmington parent, presented the board with the results of a survey conducted by the PT A. There were 823 respondents to the survey questionnaire and 41 percent did not have elementary school age children in their homes. The survey indicated that 97 percent of the respondents felt a new school was needed and more than 96 percent said It was important for their children to attend an elementary school in their own community. The survey also Indicated that the most favorable interim solution to the overcrowding problem was portable classrooms (first), followed by utilization of existing space in district buildings, split school sessions, busing students outside the community and year-roun- d sessions. Don Wortley, a spokesman for the firm, told the council the service is often used in Salt Lake City to transport elderly patients to and from doctors offices, nursing homes and hospitals. He added that Medicare can sometimes pay for part of the cost of transporting elderly patients.
