Hatch, Bishop of Franklin from 1863 to 1876, was one of the i.inclpal men of Cache Valley In pioneer days. In 1852 he and his brother Abram and Nathan Packer built a grist mill at the mouth of American Fork Canyon. In 1855 Lorenzo H. Hatch was selected as first counselor to Bishop David Evans of Lehi Ward. He served as acting Bishop while Bishop Evans fulfilled a mission to Wales.
