The first performance will be in our new Academy on Tuesday evening December Dec-ember 20th tickets on sale at Castle-dale Castle-dale Co-op. EMERY Our home dramatic company is preparing pre-paring a play for tne holidays. The title of the play is, "Uncle Josh. " The piece of the drilling appratus at the oil wells which was briken and left in the ground 1ms been taken out and the work will scon continue. Mr. J. W. Kimball has everything ready now to begin his work. Teams have gone to Price to bring a carload "of machinery for B. J. Peacock & Sons. Dime Rumor has it that wedding belis will soon be heard and Clement does not deny it. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Peterson were made h ;ppv by the arrival of a fine b:ib' girl. Everybody invited. j Our Sunday school is still alive after I . its reorganization and the way the peo- pie enjoyed the Sunday school benefit j laice last Wednesday night proved; that they were still alive also. Supt. Larson and his aids seem well pleased with the proceeds that were taken in both from dance and lunch counter. One of our number, Mrs. Clara Miller left last week for the hospital at Provo where an operation is to be performed for some ailment left over from her late attact of typhoid fever. We are anxiously waiting for her return. The Prima ry association is going to celebrate Joseph Smith's birthday (23 inst. ) with an appropriate program. We wish them every success as they need money to carry on their good work. ORANGEVILLE The City of Orangeville is doing some excellent work in repairing the Social Hall. They are putting on new shingles, shin-gles, building chimneys, as well as laying lay-ing a fine maple floor., The soliciting committee report that the people were very generous in their donations. A coat of paint will be put on the struct ure. The young men of the town intend in-tend building a fine dancing pavilion, and in the near future Orangeville will have made arrangements for a new chapel. The Social Hall will then prove to be the best opera house in the county. The Relief Society is preparing for a grand ball, including supper, program, and dancing into the wee sma hours. Our Dramatic Association puts on an exceptionally fine play this Thursday and Friday. This company has certainly cer-tainly worked hard, and have bought scenery in Salt Lake and expended no small amount in renewing that which they already had. Our young people deserve every encouragement, and the least we can do to show our appreciation apprecia-tion is to give them a full house each night. One will be assured of getting their money's worth. The Primary will give a cantata entitled en-titled "The Wonderful Christinas Tree," on Xmas eve; aNoa farce "More B und.'rs Than One" as well as songs a:i 1 recitations. We have earnest energetic en-ergetic workers in this Association and the little children show the result of their training. Entertainment proceeds go to hall repairing fund. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. W. Fox announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ruby, to Frank Jewkes. The young couple are among our most popular young people. The marriage will take place December 21st. Frank is a son of B. F. Jewkes, our respected towns man. Tne young couple have the best wishes of a host of friends. They will reside in Salt Lake where Mr. Jewkes holds a position in the state auditor's office. Swain Anderson has had a sick little girl who is reported to be gradually recovering. Orlo Huntington's little girl has fully recovered. Aunt Jane Wilkin is not so well again. Miss Florence Tatton who was critically critic-ally ill is now convalescing. We were pleased to greet our old townsmen. Wallace Mofiitt and his brother Ed., who have been visiting their aged mother, Mrs. Margaret Moffitt. The Ladies' Aid Club held their regular reg-ular meeting at the home of Mrs. Sena Johnson Wednesday. The program was rendered in a very pleasing manner. The ladies are much enthused in their I work and are always on the lookout for I anything that will be for the betterment better-ment of their town. The Commercial Club has renewed ts activities and promises great things for the future. |
