Show POPULATION INCREASFS FORTY-FIVE PER CENT The official figures of the census taken last spring art at last out. They are a disappointment to many localities but not to Emery county. This county shows one of the most rapid increases of any in the state. The populatien ten years ago was I 4657, now it is 6750 a gain of 2100 or a little over forty-five per cent. This is one of the highest percentages of increase in-crease shown in the state outside of i Salt Lake City. Aside from Green ; River and Mohrland there is little ! evidence of increase. As a matter of fact , this is a big county and several thousand i people could find homes here without j hardly being noticeable. As a matter of fact the figures given only form a basis from which to figure on the immense number of people there will be in the county when the big farms are all planted to sugar beets or the other crops which are destined to take the place of the alfalfa and receive re-ceive the close attention which the ground needs. When that time comes and the hills are filled with miners there will be an empire of people here that will surprise the "oldest inhabitant." The population of the state is 373,351 and the chances are that Utah will be given a new congressman. If such be the case it will be the duty of the legislature legis-lature to divide the state into two districts dis-tricts which districts shall each be in-titled in-titled to a congressman. It is also likely like-ly that the state senatorial districts will have their boundaries changed by the comin g session of the legislature. |
