The distance from Steam-; Steam-; boat Springs to Salt Lake City of the ; route will follow is 390 miles and will ! pass through some of the finest coal lands of the world in Western Colorado and Eastern Utah. The enterprise is an enormous one to undertake, but when completed the vast area of territory terri-tory it will penetrate and the resources it will develop will more than pay for the money spent in the undertaking. J. B. Maling of Steamboat Springs, who is perhaps better informed than any other man on the re sources of this territory, has been working in the interest in-terest of the road with Eastern bankers for many months, and his reports of the rich resources of the district to be tapped have been an important factor in making it possible to obtain the necessary funds. I Colonel D. C. Dodge, railroad builder build-er and financier, now vice president and general manager of the road has also been very active in the campaigns to finance the enterprise.
