In fact, teams lose games on fumbles rather than win them. Football games are turned around by mistakes, and usually these involve the loss of the ball by way of a fumble. The woods are full of teams who should have won the game, except they neglected to hang onto the ball. Many players ho lost the pigskin could have beer, heroes, if they could have only kept the ball under their arms. Most fumbles are a result of carelessness or poor technique on the part of the ball carrier. Bear Bryant, the successful Alabama coach, says people who fumble lack character. I dont know if we can go that far, but I do know coaches who have fumbling players who lose games and often their jobs. Occasionally a fumble can be a blessing and can even change the game in favor of the fumbling team. For example, some lucky teams have been known to fumble the ball forward and recover it Women golfers receive awards The Awards Dinner of the Career Girls Golf Association was held Tuesday, Oct. 1J at the Copper Golf Cub.
