Screenplay by Harold Pinter adapted from the novel by John Fowles. My world is not your world, so what is reality? Reality is what you make of it or what it makes of you. So, too, the reality of the film French Lieutenants The Woman is what you make of it. This film deals with the complex subject of reality versus acting. When the two entangle they are difficult to separate. Perhaps they in the cannot be disconnected movie or in life. In The French Lieutenants Woman, reality and acting are not only entangled, they are welded impossible for together. It is nearly the audience (as- well as the actors) to distinguish between the two. The movie plunges from its Victorian period into the modern-da- y Magna Stake lives of its stars. Jeremy Irons is Mike, portraying Charles, a Victorian scientist and gentleman. Charles and Mike are both oven helmed with a love for Sarah and Anna. The films creators major worry was how to transfer successfully the literary genius of John Fowles onto the screen. The novel has three different endings: one with Charles marrying his original fiancee; one with Sarah and Charles happily reunited; and one with the two lovers apart, never to sec each other again. Transposing the movie into different periods of time is one way the film meets the challenge of the novel, but many other ingredients contribute to its success. French Lieutenants the is a combination of a Woman classic story, interpreted through brilliant acting, masterful editing and cinematography, and the combined effort of several creative minds. Whether this movie is a real or a story depiction of acting, fantasized upon the screen, does not really matter. It is a unique film, one that intellectuals have analyzed, one that critics have highly acclaimed, and one that will leave you thinking long after you leave the theatre. You each have certain areas each of you are trying to protect as your base and consequently the general citizens have much input in that form of government. Under the new form of government the citizens will have every opportunity available to them to have input into the formation of policy. Q: How will you go about selecting a city manager? Maloney The first thing Id do is find out what kind of the standards are across the country for this sort of thing. Im sure there are some. I would want to find out what the salary range is and how that is based. 5 If I were looking for someone in industry, 1 would look at the number of employees involved, the kind of revenue involved. This sort of thing would help determine the actual responsibilities the manager had had and in turn would dictate what salary range youd be looking at. Our problems here are not the same problems that Orem City has, for instance. I would want a good solid business background which is conservative in nature. I want an honest individual with integrity who is willing to say I dont know the answer but I will find out the answer. And I want one who is willing to work and keep the council totally informed of all facets of city government. BUSINESS SLOW?
