Show School The long gray line By Clint Rodney Rebel Nielsen, Director of Dixie College East Yesterday I was bringing a bucket of rocks out of the bed of Of Blue, my pickup, to put in my weedy rock garden. I passed my wife who smiled and asked sweetly, Whered you get the rocks, Nielsen , out ofyour head? Ah, your mother wears combat boots, Ann! Dixie College classes began this week with nine courses and over a hundred and ten enrollment. Now, thats better than a punctured lung. Even Mickey Mouse would applaud! This is far and away our best semester yet. We keep this up and well be snapped up by some Mega University like Slippery Rock State Teachers College or even Podunk U. Im ultra proud of our Hey, make me a wooden pair like George Washington. Then just try and get your money for that Tuesday visit! Come see me about spring semester. Well tailor our Dixie classes to meet your needs. Thats all Im here for, people.. .to help you get an education that you cant afford to go to St. George to get! Heaven knows, Im not here for the money they pay me.. ..if I am, Im an idiot! I work for Kane County so that I can donate my time to Dixie College. About that Im an idiot bit above. Ann assures me that, either way. Im still an idiot! Thanks a bunch, Ann. More bits of ageless wisdom from the lips of Coach Mike Walker as told to him by Yogi Berra.. .or some drunk on skid row: Ive gone where the hand of vated students who are striving man has never set foot. for the good life and are willing Smoking kills. Ifyoure killed, to pay the price to get it. My best youve lost a very important part excellent teachers and our moti- to each and every one of you. Youre better men than I am, Thats no big Gunga Dins! deal, contends my wife, Ann. d A dog with heartworm is a better man than you are! I really think Ann sorta like me.. .but I make sure she eats a little bit of everything she fixes one-eye- before I taste it. Got a little tooth repair from Doc Schmutz last Tuesday. Doc looked in my mouth, snickered, and then inquired, Was your mother a piranha, Nielsen? Last time I saw anything like this, it was Jones picket fence when s of some kid kicked I the pickets out. Hey, Doc, can always knock the rest of them out and get some carpenter to three-fourth- of your life. Ive never had major knee surgery on any other part of my body. If I told you the truth, Id be a hypocrite. Wou always write its bombing, bombing, bombing! Its not bombing.. ..its air support! Outside ofthe killings, Washington D.C. has one ofthe lowest crime rates in the country. We have only one person to blame and thats each other. Sure its going to kill a lot of people, but they may be dying of something else, anyway. Come pass the time of day with 01 Rodney in the long gray line. Its the in thing to go slumming.
