From the Kanab Airport, flights to view the spectacle can be arranged at your convenience. Many find that hiking to the bottom, or riding the exhilarating Colorado River rapids, is the only real way to experience the Canyon. Whichever way you choose to explore it, immerse yourself in a visit to the Grand Canyon North Rim. The trip will offer you a spiritual experience. With plenty of time and access to meditate on the awesome beauty, one leaves the Canyon feeling more bonded and in tune with the natural wonder. Dont cheat yourself-hav- e a Grand Canyon North Rim The North Kaibab Ranger District, part of the Kaibab National Forest, is located in Arizona just south of the Utah border. The North Kaibab provides a full range of recreation activities and experiences year round and is the gateway to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. The Kaibab Plateau rises off the Arizona Strip providing cool summer fun in the pine, aspen, and spruce forests, and remote nordic skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Overnight facilities include two lodges with restaurants, stores and gas stations, and three campgrounds. Anyone can camp free anywhere on the national forest if you want to be on your own without any facilities. There are hundreds of miles of backcountry roads for exploring. The Kaibab Plateau-Arizon- a Trail extends from the north end of the district 65 miles south to Grand Canyon National Park. Enjoy this trail by foot, horse, or mountain bike as it travels through pine, aspen, spruce-fi- r forests with scenic meadows and views of Marble Canyon. Two experience! How do I get to the Grand Canyon? The Grand Canyon North Rim is 90 minutes south of Kanab. The scenic drive through the Kaibab National Forest is in itself a treat, offering travelers great scenery and an impressive show of western wildlife. You can get to the park by taking Hwy 89 south out of Kanab. From nearby Fredonia, AZ, follow alternate 89 toward Jacob Lake. Thats where you can pick up Highway 67, the main road into the park.
