Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Opinion 4 WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 7, 2001 M It's nice to know in our down economy, that there are residents who go about doing good things for the benefit of us all. The local Lion's Club held a very successful state social this past weekend. The event, which was entirely coordinated and carried out by the Kanab Lions, brought over 100 people to our community for three days. They entertained, cooked and provided tours for Lion's Club members and their spouses from all over the state. The local Lions were assisted by Kanab City Council members, as well as several other community volunteers. "What a beautiful place," And it was "What great hospitality," "We love it here," were just a few of the many comments heard from those attending the Saturday night dinner at Chuckwagon cookouts in Denny's Wigwam. Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument manager Kate Cannon presented an interesting and informative speech to those in attendance. There was also much praise for the Shilo Inn, which was the convention headquarters. We would like to express our appreciation to the Kanab Lion's Club for all they have done and continue to do for Kanab. By example you've demonstrated that you don't always need a lot of time or money to wow a visitor; hospitality and hard work go a long way in making a person's stay here enjoyable. mid-wint- er well-receive- d. However, the time has come to move on. I would like to thank Dixie for her kind words in last weeks DIXIE SPEAKS. Yes, she did cling to my legs as I struggled to walk out the door the last three times that I tried to retire, ( actually she talked me out of it), and I am so glad that she did. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals who have greeted me when I was out and about, telling me how much they enjoyed this or that article. Your friendly comments always made my day. I would also very much like to thank the people I interviewed. Every one of you treated me kindly and welcomed me into your homes. Without you, I would have never fulfilled my dreams of writing. There are so many words I could say to Dennis and Dixie. They have treated me with me to be a better writer. They have invited Jim and I into their home to help celebrate special events. We hope to be invited again and again. Out of the many words I could say, five come to mind: Thank You!!
