But I will try to do my best to represent the county, and let its decisions fall where they may. Lind was among four applicants for the position recently vacated by Colin Winchester, who took a job with the Utah State Attorney Generals office. As a 1997 Brigham Young law school graduate, Lind is a relative newcomer to the legal profession. But what he may lack in years, he makes up for in experience. Before graduating from BYU, Lind worked as a legal research assistant for Law Professsor Bruce Hafen. While 92 names were submitted on a petition to Kane County, several had asked the judge prior to the hearing to have their names removed. This job offered a gamut of exposure to legal issues including domestic and personal injury cases, oral arguments, and administrative trials. In 1998, Lind became the managing attorney for the Kanab office of Higbee, MacFarlape and Jensen, P.C. He worked on general litigation issues, contracts, corporate business, general civil work and on real property, title, liens and foreclosures. Since July 1999, Lind has operated the Kanab office solo, where the majority of his time has been devoted to litigation and trial work. He will continue serving his established clients at his 34 North Main office. As Kane County Attorney, Lind will serve as chief prosecutor of crimes committed in the county. He will also counsel with and advise the County Commission on civil matters, as well as represent and defend the county in litigation. A deputy attorney will be hired to assist Lind with the burgeoning workload. I look forward to working with the Commissioners and all of the county departments, said Lind of his new job. Eric and wife Emily Lind have four children; three daughters and a son. The Linds have been very involved in the community since moving here.
