A blanket of fresh snow is covering the forest and luring people to head outdoors and play. However, with snow comes safety considerations. y Traveling forest Forest Service roads will remain open until heavy snowfall or muddy conditions force their closure. To avoid getting stuck or causing road damage, people should stay on main forest roads in the afternoon when warmer temperatures have caused thawing. Travel on back roads is only recommended in the early morning when the ground is still frozen. Although it is not required, people visiting the remote areas of Blue Ridge may stop by the Blue Ridge Ranger District or Happy Jack Information Center to register before setting up camp so that emergency contacts can be made if needed. Local tobacco retailers did fairly well in compliance checks carried out between July 1999 and June 2000. 9.1 of tobacco outlets checked in the Southwest Utah Public Health District illegally sold tobacco to underage children in checks. Parking along Snowbowl Road is restricted due to the risk ofserious accidents. The parking lots at Arizona Snowbowl will be closed Monday , November 20 in preparation for the ski area to open.
