Royce Gillespie asked the council to consider the high schools request to build a concession stand on the south side of the football field. The materials are there in place, and all the work is donated. But the water and sewer connection may be a problem due to the connection fees. He thought he had a solution to providing water by going to the water source of the new middle school but ran into a problem as to how to provide back flow prevention. He discussed al- ternatives such as getting donations for a separate water meter. Mayor Alvey repeated the citys inability to waive the impact fees for either sewer or water although she was willing to look at the parks and recreation budget, the cost of a minimum water service was approximately $2300 for the meter and about $950 for the impact fee. Gillespie outlined the design features of the stand which included kitchen and refrigerator items already owned by the school district and full restrooms for the spectators and empha- sized the fact that it would be a quality structure also meeting all the handicapped standards. Mayor Alvey asked Councilman Crawford to see this request was on the agenda for the next meeting of Symphony ofthe Canyons & Xanab Sfiyh Schoolj . Council person Carol Sullivan told the council the Airport is getting a grant from the federal budget of $150,000 and the airport commission will spend this money on a low visibility instrumental landing system. In the past some emergency flights have been diverted to Colorado City because they had such a system already in place. The citys matching share is $13,590, so a motion was made to open the budget and place the matching share in the airport budget. Resolution pertaining to certain changes in the personnel policy regarding the building inspector was passed with no objection. Mayor Alvey alluded to a $ 1.00 per month city tax on cell phone usage by Kanab residents. Many cities are finding an additional source of revenue by imposing such a tax. She felt that a public hearing should be held at the next council meeting in order for the public to voice their concerns. him for his work and said Peterson will be working for the city full-tim- e; Crosby informed the council that Mark Fisher has injured Sorry, Beth Cooper dolls and consignment items excluded.
