Hugh Thompson, a 34 year veteran of the US Forest Service, has been selected as deputy director of the Utah Department of Natural Resources. Raised in the western part of South Dakota, Thompson attended Colorado State University where he graduated with a dual degree in Forestry and Range Conservation. During his service with the Forest Service, Thompson was assigned to seven national forests in five states. The last 12 years he has served as Forest Supervisor of the Dixie National Forest in southern Utah. It is titled Desert...Spirit...Valley and is a composition representing southern Utahs magnificent geographical formations and colorful history. As the sun goes down behind the surrounding Zion Canyon Cliffs, the barbecues are fired up and the sizzling smell of supper wafts over the area. The annual chuck-wago- n dinner will be offered at 6:30 p.m. at a minimal charge to concert goers. All proceeds from the supper go directly to the support of Southwest Symphony.
