Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25, 1998 10 Kane County home improvement nomination By Jean Fotherigham My husband Don Fotheringham does not know I am doing this,' butif you ever hear of a Home Improvement Award in Kane County, he should get it. ' himDon was trained as a designer and really out-diself on this barn. We moved into the Rose Erb home in Glendale in September of 1997. After we bought it, we learned the barn had been the Bishops Storehouse. The first thing we had to do was to put a $2500 roof on it to save it. Then Don attached the garage to the side to support it where the snow and water had undermined it. To maintain the original look, he covered the barn with old bamwood and matched the new roof to the old roof. The result is a beautifully integrated complex which looks like it had always been there. Even the garage door paint (they were white) was purposely left imperfect. You ought to come' and see it. When people drive by, they some take photos, some paint stop, do a double-takpictures. After it was built, we had a big flash flood. The bam surely would have gone down had it not been for the garage. This barn has a fantastic, huge root cellar under it. d For kids only-wi- n up to $6,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds e, U.S. Treasury Departments Bureau of the Public Debt announced the Eighth Annual U.S. Savings Bond Poster Contest where stuThe -- - - Kf s ri The remodeled home and barn of Don and Jean Fotheringham of Glendale is pictured at the right.
