Commissioner Carrol asked, What good is a fire hydrant that has no water? The Kane County Water Conservancy District is currently involved in a study of 29 separate water systems in the county. Alice Wilkey, Color Country Dusters, brought pictures of the way the rodeo arena looked after the demolition derby. The Dusters picked up metal, wire, fiberglass, and removed signs that had been left. Although they practice in the arena, the Color Country Dusters cannot hold events there until there is water. The board and guidelines. Commissioner Judd indicated that a multi-us- e facility is difficult to administer, but we cant afford to use the facility for a single use. Commissioners reviewed a draft from the BLM on proposed ATV trails in the GSENM. Jim Matson, Vermillion Consulting, recommended the draft be accepted and returned to the BLM. A Plan 2,000 was dis cussed which will involve all of the communities in the county. Kane County does not qualify for a lot of federal programs because we are surrounded by so much federal land. Restaurant tax revenues were reviewed. Although taxes are down this year, the bond payment on the arena is covered. The bond will be paid off in eight years. Eighty acres of the State Hospital Trust, section 10, adjacent to Kaneplex, has been reserved by Kane County, with the hope of developing it at a later date. Commissioners discussed the advantages of purchasing the property, rather than leasing, and will look into it. The old hospital is deteriorating and needs to be cleaned and painted. It was suggested that clean and paint. John Wright, Church Wells, discussed problems with cleanup, loose trash blowing, junk yards and nuisance dogs. Wright said some areas look like a land fill. Wright asked the county why the citations issued two years ago had not been followed week-ende- rs through with for non-complian- County Attorney Winchester will follow through with their complaint regarding trash. Karl Rasmussen, Jones and Demille Engineering, had a cost analysis for the infrastructure of the proposed jail sites. Commissioner Crosby requested a cost analysis for an addition at the current jail site, which would have a total of 40 beds. WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5, 1998 Obituary Ida Reiswig Ida Lena Reiswig, age 89, died Sunday, July 26, 1998 in St. George, Utah. Bom February 21, 1909 in Geddes, South Da- kota to Anna Rokusek and Rudolph Hronish. Ida worked as a nurses aide at the San Joaquin County Hospital in Stockton, California for 25 years. She moved to Kanab in 1992. Ida is survived by her sons Truman (Betty) Lynch of Kanab, Richard (Jeanne) Lynch of Rio Delmar, CA; sisters Elsie Josifek of Iowa and Gladys Hope of Modesto, CA; eight grandchildren, 25 and two She was preceded by two sons, Kenneth Lynch and Louis Lynch, and four brothers and sisters.
