Also in attendance were Launa Smith, T'hayne Spendlove, Shannon Smith, Lillian Lukus, Brian Mcgnett, Hope Tait, Roger Smith, Larry Casebolt and Joy Jordan. Meeting called to order by Gary Holsten at 7:12 p.m. A report was given by Howard Palen on efforts to have an Ugly Truck Contest during the 4th of July. One sponsor has already been retained and others are expected. Mr. Palen also said he was working on plans to hold 4 wheel drive races and Mud Bog contests but this was in a early stage and would require more work, yet much in- terest has. been expressed by local people for these events. Shirley Smith reported that four responses were sent by the Chamber to requests by people for information regarding Fredonia activities. Dennis Smith gave Treasurers report as of 12-- 3 1 96 balance was $3,933.33 and following several minor transactions now stands at $3,255.33. The need for new signature cards for the bank was mentioned also. Joy Jordan gave the following reports: Upgrading of both entrances to the Road and in the area of the Clamshell will be done but little interest or funds ere available for any further at this time. Ms. Jordan has been talking to a few off road clubs who have offered help to organize runs on the road. Overlook: Spoke with several governmental organizations and most are willing to help but only in a limited way at this time. She also mentioned a possible working relationship with Pla- teau Partners. Sewer The design contract has been signed but the EDA grant has not been received as yet. The location for the ponds is at this time going to be near the end of Lukus Lane. The representatives from Energy Fuels Nuclear asked the Chamber if they would write a letter to the Mohave County Sheriff asking for coverage in the eastern portion of the Strip where they have been experiencing an increase in vandalism to their equipment and facilities. The motion to do so was introduced, seconded by II. Palen and voted on unanimously. The particular areas ofconcern are Kanab North, Pine Nut and Arizona One. According to Linda Thatcher, coordinator of collections at the Historical Society, groups and individuals may check out copies of the exhibit materials for display. Its an ideal teaching tool for schools, church organizations, clubs, and other groups, Thatcher said. The exhibits on loan include, in addition to all the illustrations and maps noted above, educational materials: Beehive History 22, a magazine containing numerous articles on the pioneering experience, an educational handbook, and other teaching aids. The Mormon Trail: A Photograph Exhibit may be checked A refundable out for $25 deposit is required.
