Show SOUTHZEN UTAH NEWS SPORTS , WEDNESDAY MARCH &, 1W7 Lady Cowboys end season at Region tourney By Rory Brunner The Kanab High girls basket- ball team ended their frustrating season in Monticello at the Region 13 Tournament as they went two and out. The first of their two contests squared them up agaist the 1 seeded South Sevier Rams Thursday morning. The Cowgirls hung tough and were tied up with the Rams 8 after one period of play. In the second stanza. South Sevier got the advantage which led to a 22-1- 4 deficit for the Lady Cowboys at half. The Ram lead did not grow much in the third, and Kanab only trailed by 11 points 35-2- 4 at the end of the three periods of play. But in the fourth the Rams would prove their 1 ranking, as they outscored the Cowgirls 24-1- 0 in the quarter en route to a 59-3- 4 victory Sophomore Casey Daley led the girls in scoring with 10 points. Center Ashleigh Chamberlain added eight for Kanab and Stephanie Little netted six. With the loss, the Cowgirls found themselves in the losers bracket having to face the San Juan Broncos the next morning. The game would be a good one, but it wouldnt turn out how the Cowgirls would have wanted it to. The Broncos grabbed a small 11-- 7 lead after the first and lea 21-1- 5 six at the half. Adidas was led by Amanda Coopers eight, while Joni Martin scored six. The Flyers balanced scoring was led by four from Aleasha Anderson and Kim Nockideneh. Keapa 32, Converse 14 Keapas early lead was too much for Converse to overcome as Keapa won easily. They were led by Lily Anderson with 14 points as Tory McKinney added eight. Converse was led by Sarah Ramsay and Sam Hamblin getting five and four points, re- 5th and 6th Grade 12-- 6 spectively. 3rd and 4th Grade Keapa 32, Converse 6 LA Gear LA.
