Show School "Caring for Animals" contest winners Shannie Rogers of Glendale, a student at Valley Elementary School, won the grand prize scholarship of $250 in the Car- ing for Animals contest sponsored by Utahs Week for the Animals (coordinated by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary). Jacob Rogers, also of Glendale, won a $200 scholarship for his cat and dog sculpture. Other local honorees who won honorable mention were Steven Jacobs, Matt Jacobs, Marte Randine, Ellen Rose Johnson, Lindy Heaton, Aurelia Johnson and Jolene Judd. Art work from Shannie Rogers, Marte Randine, Ellen Rose Johnson, and Aurelia Johnson and photos of the sculpture from Jacob and Matt Rogers will be displayed at the Childrens Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City until the end of February. SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 20, 1096 Kanab student studying in Russia Matthias Fripp, a Lewis & Clark College student from1 Kanab, Utah, is participating in the colleges overseas study program in Russia this fall se--; mester. The program is based in NizhniyNovgorod and includes excursions to regional areas of interest and to Moscow. In addition to intensive language study, the program exposes students to history , culture and contemporary Issues of Russia. Students live with host families or in dormitories with Russian roommates.
