That meeting was held at the social hall of St. Christophers Catholic Church on March 14. A good round of fellowship was had by members of the club and guests. On March 23 a test session was held at the Kanab Se- nior Center where several amateur operators from Washington County up- graded their licenses. One of our local xyls (married young lady) passed her entry level examination. On April 3 she received her license and new call letters. She is Joann Tucker (wife of Clyde Tucker N7PBX club Vice President) and her new call is KC7QCA. On Thursday, April 11 the club will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Catholic Church social hall. All club meetings are open to those interested in amateur radio and begin at 7:00 p.m. local time. Topic for the information session following the business portion of the meeting will be Packet Radio. . 644-540- 7. 520-643-70- 62 Own Your Own Home FREE Seminar U Life Insurance thats right for you... thats what Did you know? Plus, an ambitious grandson who has taken over his grandfathers routes to give him the time to spend out there. One advantage for me is that the 3' wide beds are now measured off and prepared earlier than usual for seeds and transplants. However, with the temperature out there about ten degrees cooler than in town, planting will come about two weeks later for us there. I have hesitantly planted one bed, we still have deer trampling through the ranch, but with the bed surrounded by wire well hope for the best. As I work the various areas I never fail to marvel at the obvious difference in the structure of the soil that has been mulched and filled with organic material over the years and that which has not. It doesnt matter what kind of soil is in the garden, clay or sandy. By adding green or dry Scout-O-RamScout-O-Ram- a organic matter it increases the humus in soil, which improves its capacity for greater water retention in sandy soils and the ability to open and loosen the structure of clay soils for better aeration. As the microbial action on the organic matter takes place the matter is converted into useable nutrients and stored in the soil to be used by the growing plants as they have a need for it. Its been proven by USDA soil scientists, by soil conservationists, as well as by everyday backyard organic gardeners like myself, that soils with more organic matter in them produce higher yields than soils with less organic matter. It not only improves the soil but helps plants grow healthy and nutritious! As soils become richer in humus, the need for applying fertilizers, even organic onces becomes less. Because of the microbiological action of the soil life! Its a great win-wi- n situation. The gardener gains, soil is improved, and the soil life is fed and multiplies! All Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Valley, Kanab, Fredonia and Mocassin are invited to participate. Parents please mark the date and plan to come and see all the great things the boys will be doing both inside and outside. A district pine wood derby will be part of the fun with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cars coming from each Wolf, Bear, and Weblo Den from each Pack.
