Jeremy, Ive had it. If you make bunny ears behind anyone, Im going to throttle you. There are bunny ears on every picture we have. It looks like youve all grown new body parts. Family picture taking. is an art form. Getting offspring photographed for posterity is often a preposterous proposition. The desire to photograph progeny starts early. People begin taking pictures of their children from the moment they emerge into the world. I heard of one father who even told his wife in the delivery room to not push until he had reloaded the camera. Our children are photographed most often as infants. We take countless pictures of subjects who are bald, nude, toothless and fairly homely. At the hospital, Junior is photgraphed with mommy and daddy, as well as the nurse, doctor, orderly and strangers off the street. Birth is just the beginning. From the first moment on, the proud parents document each new accomplishment and every inch of growth. There are pictures in the album of all babys important firsts: the first spit-ufirst smile, first stroll outdoors, first taste of peas and the first tooth. My husband and I documented every event our first child had. We had to second mortgage our home just to keep us in the film. The problem with our Kodak moments, was that we were lousy photographers. In the picture of our sons first diaper change, all I had pictured was...how can I put this delicately...his outdoor plumbing. fact Its a children are first photographed 95 more than subsequent kids. You have so much time when you have your first child. As subsequent children arrive, you try to at least document big events. By the time your last child arrives, all hisher album consists of is a kindergarten and graduation picture. This is a bone of contention with the other kids. What they dont understand is we dont purposely slight one kid over another, it just happens. But the kids arent beyond using the p, well-document- ed whole thing as guilt blackmail. Mom, can you spot me a few bucks? Im running short. No way, youve must learn to budget your money better.
