Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MARCH 13, 1996 Sports Running the Kanab 10K The long run By Terry Tucker time when I dont have to go to work. These runs are taken at a slower pace than the daily run arid I try to have some water or a sport drink available at about the halfway point. The main goal of the long run is to condition the body for the length of race you are training for. Since the goal is to just finish the 10K and feel good while doing it, then the pace isnt to critical on the long runs. If your daily runs are between three or four miles, then make your first longer run five miles then the next week go for seven, and the third week During the last few weeks, as you have been preparing for the Kanab 10K, you have run basically for 30 or 45 minutes, three times a week. The pace for six. should have been conservative and you should feel pretty good when the runs are over. I think you need to add at least one longer run a week to this schedule. I would suggest that before the 10K, you have at least three runs of six to seven miles in length. This team is choTeam sen by the coach from the championship team. Only 10 girls are chosen from all the teams in the state. The All Star Game will be played on March 16 in Monroe, Utah. Chary has been a varsity player for four years. She is fast, accurate and deadly on the floor. She is the player most closely guarded on the Valley team because she is the biggest threat.
