The postal employees of the Kanab office only sort through the mail that stays in our office. All of the other mail goes to our processing center in Provo, Utah. Mail sorted in Provo goes to different sections in that center depending on the kind of mail that it is and where its' final destination is located. The mail for Foreign Countries gets sent directly to Denver, Colorado, and is processed there. When you put mail in the foreign box, all of it goes to Denver before it is handled. Our purpose is to use one whole area to an advantage of improving the soil continually rather than using one part always in garden and the rest always in weeds, or bare. One most important and beneficial act a gardener can do for his soil and each year s plants is to rotate crops. One rule to follow in order to lessen the pest problem and keep from depleting the soil of those nutrients needed by that particular plant is, never grow the same vegetable in the same place the following year If its possible to use entirely new growing ground the next Out of State season, great! Ifthat new ground All mail without has been prepared with nutri-.ent- s barcodes for outside and organic matter the states of Utah throughout the year previously, and Arizona Thank you Postmaster Randy Stevens hr 6 eooBRi (RmtuB Utns Its important Barcoded Mail with SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 7. 1996 into fours along the 60' side, or quarter the total area. Regardless, I will have 600 square feet to each section. In three I will grow green manure throughout the season. The fourth will be the vegetable garden. Three connecting sections totaling 1800 square feet will be sown in spring when the ground can be worked, with a mixture of 4 barley, 4 hairy vetch, and 12 rape seed to provide nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and sulfur, plus the rich green matter, when its tilled into the soil at 6" high. Adding after the first tilling, a coating of compost inoculant over the soil will hurry up the breaking-dow- n what a bonus ! Providing fertile soil naturally through rotation is what this plan is all about. The supposition is: there is available 60' x 40' to grow a garden. Family is gone, theres no need for that much garden. Theres a choice, I can section it process. Then till once again. Two weeks later Ill sow a mixture of 2 New Zealand Clover and 3 buckwheat, which will add more of the same nutrients and matter by repeating the above process. This will be repeated two more times. Watering should be by sprinklinguntil seed has sprouted, then irrigation flooding can be used after the stand is strong. Still more, next week. 40' 40' Its Girl Scout cookie time!
