Show Community SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 7. 1994 Christian radio station coming Domestic Blitz Bv Dixie Brunner ay what??? Every once in awhile, I feel a calling to comment on current trend sayings and phrases. Wait, let me enhance that statement. Word usage seems to go in streaks. Youll hear a certain word or phrase used once, and then youll hear it used (and over-used- ) repeatedly. You have to wonder how actly it all gets started. Perhaps the verbiage was exut- tered by a person once, or it could've just been a clever ditty delivered by anysemi-famou- s s one. but once a saying gets started it spreads like wildfire. For instance, if I heartheword "global even one more time. I'll surely go crazy. Everything's global anymore. Whatever happened to local? There's global economy, global peace and let's not forget about that global warming. I guess this "global obsession just goes along with everyone thinking about the "big picture. Personally, Id far rather stick to the "little picture. There are other words that get beaten with a stick. I've noticed that there are a lot of impaired people around these days. Impaired is the word used to describe someone who for whatever reason, has a deficit in some physical or mental ability. People are no longer deaf, blind or retarded, they are hearing impaired, vision impaired, or mentally impaired. I have always suffered from mathematical impairment. My algebra teacher would say Amen to that. But I never got any breaks for my problem. I think that I at least deserved a front row parking stall in math class. (Do you think if I wouldve sat in the front row and listened instead of talked, I wouldve gotten a better grade?) Our oldest son suffers from room cleaning impairment. Its not hard to identify either. His problem becomes obvious the minute you walk into his bedroom and find the year old peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My husband has attention impairment. Whenever theres a football game on, you cant hold his attention for more than 30 seconds at a time. During commercials you have two minutes, but you have to catch him on the run to the kitchen for snacks. Theres actually one phrase that has gotten me a little irri Christian radio station for area is WAFR Station reality. from Tupelo, Mississippi has recently filed an application with the FCC for the station here, and it is expected that the station will be in operation shortly after January 1, 1995. The Christian Neighborhood Broadcasting Inc., a A the tated of late. "Fixed income is a term that permeates everything you read. Now my irritation of the term, has absolutely nothing to do with the very real economic crisis of the elderly. But its just one of those little annoying thoughts that drive you mad. The idea behind fixed income is that when you retire, you have only X amount of dollars coming in, and that won't change. I wish we lived on a fixed income. I have only X amount of dollars coming in, with it going out at an astounding speed. Raising a family has the effect of your income. You get paid... youngest son needs some school fees. You get paid. ..oldest son blows a tennis shoe. You get paid. ..middle son chips a tooth. A" Whenever I hear that someI one lives on a fixed income, Johnson receives Wings of Gold turn green with envy. Well, its time for me to quit First Lieutenant Ron Johnson (r), United States Marine Corps, son ofIsaac for this week, so "have a nice and Marilyn Johnson of Fredonia, received the aviators' coveted Wings of Kanab-Fredoni- a ga non-prof- orga- it nization was formed locally to obtain the Christian radio station. The project is in need of $3500 to purchase the needed satellite dish. At this time over $1500 has been raised. Beside the donations received, the group has participated in a car wash at Honeys IGA parking lot and a bake sale at the Mohave County Fair in Fredonia. Future plans for fundraising include both a yard sale and an outdoor cookout. The station WAFR from Tu- "un-fixin- g pelo, Mississippi was chosen because of the rich and regal blend of inspirationallight contemporary and praise music. The programming is easy to listen to and is focused on family values truly a valuable alternative in radio listening. WAFR can be heard at the present time on 88.7 FM in St. George. Upon completion of this training he will be stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Ron is married to the day. Now 7 Im a positive person and everything, but boy does that phrase drive me nuts.
