The road carries traffic past the National Park Service administration building and the picnic area. When water in Lake Powell reaches an elevation high enough to permit use of the permanent ramp, this road will; be a part of the access route to PAGE, the site. . . The five miles l)f circulatory roads and access roads in the area were constructed at a cost of approximately one million dollars. In addition to the new access road, the current $50,000 contract. awarded to Nielson, Inc., includes tearing un a section of the haul road which carried aggregate to the concrete batching plant for the construction of . Glen Canyon Dam. Two campground loops will be based and graded out here. The initial base for an amphitheater will be built in the center of the campground. A Park Service official said that ' some four and . one-ha- lf miles of the haul road will be resurfaced in the near future to provide a lakeshore drive with parking areas and overlooks.
