Show Thursday, Davis County Clipper Lakeview Hospital selects three 'Volunteers of the Year' This year Lakeview Hospital has chosen three volunteers to serve as Volunteers of the Year. They will be Lakeview Hospitals nominees for the State Volunteer of the Tfear at the Utah Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries and Volunteers Annual Convention held in St George Sept. Paul and Iva Lee Egan are a husband and wife team chosen as Lakeview I fospitals Volunteers of the Year. They greet guests as they arrive at the hospital and enjoy making deliveries and visiting with the patients. Iva Lee began her career with the volunteers as their coordinator and after retiring, she kept up with her regular volunteer duties. She has served on the board for five years and is now in her second year as Volunteer President. Paul joined the volunteers after his retirement from Hill Field in 1991 He worked in same-da- y surgery and has now joined his wife at the information desk. He also does free blood pressure testing for the public on Wednesdays in the front lobby. Paul was chosen in 1998 to receive the First Humanitarian Award for Volunteer of the Year. West Doug and Danette Hammond at 883 and demonstrate a real concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their families. Marjorie Howe is Lakeview Hospitals Volunteer of the year. This lovely, little English woman has volunteered at Lakeview for over 25 years, donating more than 3200 hours of service. During one period of a few years, Marjorie served with her daughter and granddaughter which made three generations of redheads working together and community. They always support the volunteer and hospital functions nights. Marjorie has on Wednesday worked on all floors of the hospital, with the Family Crisis Committee, and is now at the information desk in the front lobby Marjorie is the best when working with and comforting both the patients and the visitors at the hospital. Many times she has sat with families in the ER or with a parent waiting anxiously for word about their loved one in surgery She has served on the volunteer board for many years and is always supportive of their activities. In Heber Valley Railroad to celebrate 100 years o f train service in Utah The Heber Valley Railroad will celebrate 100 years of train service into the Heber Valley this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5 during Railroad Daze. The first trains climbed the Provo Canyon in 1899 and belonged to the Denver & Rio Grande. Later it became the Denver & Rio Grande Western.
