ledale THE PLATFORM we the democratic party of emery county in convention assembled at Cast ledale oct 2 1908 hereby affirm and reaffirm our hearty allegiance to the national democratic platform as adopt ed at denver july 7 1903 also to the state platform as adopted at logan sept 22 1908 we pledge our allegiance to our great standard bearers william J bryan and john W kern and be 1 eve that the people of th s nation are ready to respond to the declaration we want a change the people should rule we pledge ourselves to the support of the state and judicial tickets and feel that the de eastern utah has been greatly honored by the state in placing the name of W nixon for state auditor county officers that we nominate we place before the people with the full faith and belief that they are corn patent and that they will serve fairly and honestly the wishes of the people and not baiden the taxpayers by erces sive deputy work aid ind special bills of allowance we pledge our representative if elected to the legislature to comply with the wishes of the people in work ing zealously and energetically fo pro h also to work in harmony with the U S forest service for se curing an to assist in the construction of a public road from emery to sanpete county we pledge a retrenchment of officers salaries and other unwarranted ex we also pledge ourselves to the im provement pro of roads and br convention to order at 10 39 short louis P of cleveland was selected for temporary chairman and george A for secre tary the temporary organization was later made permanent after the appointment of various committees th convention adjourned till 2 bloc the afternoon sess on began with the reports of committees the al committee found full delegations present from all but lawrence green river woods de and desert lake which precincts were not represented for representative E karaen was nominated by acclamation after being named by R miller seconded by J V nixon for four year term commissioner the names of H P of ferron and mason L snow of cleveland were presented the former by wyitt bryan and the battel by lars P ove son mr received 30 votes and mr snow 3 the former was de dared elected for the two year commissioner the name of M L snow was again put up and wm howard named E L geary of huntington hr geary won by a vote of 22 to 13 the matter of nominating a county clerk was passed up to the county cen aral committee as soon AS green river could be heard from as it was under stood that office wa to be given to that predict for assessor E Torge raon was named by nephi
