theodore roosevelt whose statesmanship un flinching courage and unswerving hon esty and fidel ty have a ded in so ing the progress of our country that the united states now stands a the head of the galaxy of nations and is held in admiration by the people of all land in his successor the country needs a roan of equal sagacity steadiness and sound judgment n whose wisdom no matter what difficulty may arise the coun ry may feel eafe and secure such a nan preeminently is william howard tifft and to him and our vice pres den bial nominee james schoolcraft aft sher nan we pledge our loyal support we endorse the legislative work of our congressional delegation senators smoot and sutherland and congressman ell we commend the action of our county commissioners in their efforts for the betterment of the roads throughout the county with pardonable pride we direct at to the fact that the books and records of tho clerical offices of emery are equal to those of any county in the state and we beeve in the ann ciple that the laborer is worthy of his hire aud endorse the action of our coun ty commissioners in fixing the salary schedule for these offices that other equally competent men and such will aspire to fill them the new salar ies fixed by the county commissioners are less than that provided by statute and are lower than counties of our clas through tout the state we endorse the work of our county attorney and sheriff in their alertness in the investigation of criminal matters and the rigid pro elution of law break ars and rejo ce 11 the fact that the law breake g element is practically driven from the county we are heartily in sympathy with those of our fellow citizens who are working to place utah on the 1 st of the prohibition of the union we bel eve thit the 1 quor traffic is the greatest evil confroy ting the american people to day an evil causing more crime more moral and financial rum insanity misery and sorrow than any other and we pledge the support of our nominee for the legislature ti inces work for the enactment of a pro hibi tion law the public school system of emery county ib one evera fostering care and the best efforts of every agency necessary to facilitate its growth and advance its standard there fore we believe that no man can do full justice to the duties of the office of county superintendent of schools and at the same time occupy a handling the county s cash for next two years there was a scrap on between wm fail of orange ville and J V leonard of huntington another scrap for the sheriff s job occurred and a real hard and somewhat bitter one for th office of county attorney ej the convention was called to older at 10 30 by chairman curtis hon orange seely was chosen and jesse D jewkes temp secretary the three usual corn were named and an adjourn ment taken till 1 30 after reassembling the committee on t gamza tion recommended that the temporary organization be made permanent and the same was adopted mark tuttle
