Terry Dean threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns and Florida (3-0, 2-0 SEC} had 16 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, including five sacks. Tennessee (1-2, 1-1 ), held to 68 rushing yards on 44 carries, suffered its worst home loss since Centre College beat the Volunteers 32-0 in 1924. Los Angeles (1-2) scored on its first four possessions en ro ute to a 28-3 halftime lead, going on to romp Denver 48-16. At Seattle, Stan Humphries connected with Tony Martin on a team-record 99-yard scoring play to hand the Sea hawks (2-1) their first loss. Humphries completed 19 of 29 passes for 262 yards and one to uchdown. Martin caught six passes for 152 yards as San Diego (3-0} got off to its best start since 1981, as they defeated the Seahawks 24-10. At Anah eim, Calif., Steve Young passed for two touchdowns and scored twice o I -yard sneaks, and the 49ers (2-1} broke the game open in the second half, where the N iners won 34-19. Jerome Bettis rushed for 104 yards on 21 carries for the Rams (1-2), including a touchdown late in the game after the 49ers had taken a 34-13 lead. At Chicago, Warren Moon comple ted 22 of 29 passes for 236 yards, res urrecting the Vikings offense, which had only one touchdown entering the game, but was potent enough to take control and earn a 42-14 win. Chicago {1-2) had trouble bringing down Terry Allen and containing Cris Carter. Carter had eight catches for 79 yards in the first half. Allen1 who had two touchdown runs, gained 159 yards on 22 carries. At Houston, Jim Kelly and Andre Reed set up five field goals by Steve Christie, giving the Bills a 15-7 win. The Bills (2-1) got their third straight victory over the Oilrs, who started the season 0-3 for the first time since 1984. At East Rutherford, N .J., Dave Meggett ran for two touchdowns and threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Aaron Pierce, carrying the Giants offense in the absence of the injured Rodney Hampton. John Friesz was 32 of SO for a career-high 381 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception for the Redskins (1-2), but the Giants held on to win, 3 1-23. Reggie White returned to Philadelphia, where he played eight seasons, to see the Eagles defense register six sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble, as they edged the Pack 13-7. The Eagles (2-1) scored on two 26-yard field goals from Eddie Murray and a I -yard run by Randall Cunningham. At Pittsburgh, Barry Foster ran for 179 yards, upstaging Colts rookie Marshall Faulk, who was held to just 61, as the Steelers won 3 1-21. Barn Morris, Foster's rookie backup, had one TD and set up another score, helpin g the Steelers (2-1) overcom e a 14-0 Indianapolis lead. At Cincinnati, Drew Bledsoe had a club-record fourth straight 300-yard game, throwing for one touchdown in New England's first win, 3 1-28. At Tampa, Fla., Morten Andersen kicked three first-half field goals as the Saints {1-2) avoided their worst start in 14 years with a 9-7 win . At Miami, Terry Kirby rushed for 100 yards, and the Dolphins' banged-up defense got four interceptions. Dan Marino completed 23 of 3 1 for 289 yards and two scores for Miami (3-0), as the Dolphins took a 28-14 win. Keith Jackson caught six passes for 100 yards and improvised a lateral to Irving Fryar for a TD and 21-7 lead. Boomer Esiason threw four interceptions, completing 22 of 37 passes for 293 yards. a big, early lead and then survived some surprising lat drama Sunday to win the first President's Cup with a 20-12 victory over the International team . The U.S. team came into the day needing only five victories in singles play to take the cup and quickly won four of the first five matches decided, only to watch the next four matches go to sudden-death playoffs .
