Woollerms and Judy man, Vincent. 3rd place: Elwood Vincent, Ashley Workman and Phyllis Hickman. Selma said it was so much fun to see all of the people you hadnt seen for so many years. As Phyllis Hickman said, it was a lot of work and planning, but was so rewarding when everyone had such a grand time. They plan a Reunion every 3 years. Its something what rain can do to hay when its cut and down. When Jim, Allan, Arlan and Aaron came in from cubing the other night, youd have thought they were chimney sweepers instead of hay cubers. I was envious. I drove bv the Milford Elementary School Saturday evening and could see them dancing like we use to. I saw some cousins downtown Friday who had come for the M.HJ5. I couldnt stand it any longer so Sunday morning I droe over to Zeke and Phsllis Hickman 'a nome here m the valley where the Reunion Brunch was being held. Amid many cars I found a parking place and as I walked to their lovely back year. I could hear a hum of voices in the air. As I stepped Into the past and present of class mates enjoying one anothers company and talking over old times, you could feel the excitement and emotion. I talked with RosaLee Cook and Charles Smith who said they were the chief cooks and on KP but were enjoying every minute of it. And it was evident everyone was enjoying the results of their cooking. Alice Elmer was passing out blueberry muffins I asked her how many they baked after both of us trying to figure it out. It was well over 350. I visited with Lois Altman who said this reunion was the original class of 1935 class reunion and each year they kept expanding it. Phyllis Hickman said they sent out 500 letters. They had 300 at the Steak Fry and 250 at the Banquet and over 200 at the Brunch. I also talked with Bene Johnson and she gave me the names of the people m charge of the Reunion, Alden Johnson, Chairman, Garthe Banks, co. Chairman, Secretary, Beulah Wunderlich, Phyllis Hickman, Treasurer, Jack Davis; Steak Fry, George Connel, Social Activities, Selma Kirk, Golf Tournament, Wally Fotheringham. geothermal tour and buses, Lois Altman, Ina Norton, banquet, banquet decoration, and Phyllis and RosaLee Cook, brunch. Bene said due to the efforts of all chairmans and their committees a fan- tastic reunion was emoved by all DISPLAYS: Another feature of the Beaver County Fair are the displays by different churches and wards. Each is unique and though an organization effort, it is representative of the fine handwork and individual craftmanship to be CHURCH attending. Bene said the bus drivers, Don Willden and Junior Davis who took them on their tour and Steak Fry made the event extra special with all their help they offered, a special thanks to them. Marriott pledges to set up 4 task forces jectives regarding education: getting back to basics, that is, requiring The task forces being established are the Task Force on Economic that children achieve competency in basic subjects; reducing class size; improving discipline; and raising Development, the Task Force on Tax Reform, the Task Force on Eduand the Task Force on cation, Government Efficiency. The task will begin operations on forces 15 and will complete their August assignments and will be disbanded by December 31, Marriott said. Congressman Dan Marriott stopped in Beaver last Wednesday for a brief visit to emphasize his goals and platform for the gubernatorial race m Utah. The Congressman stressed that strengthening Utahs educational system is vital to the progress of the state. He said he has four ob teachers standards and salaries. To accomplish these and other objectives in state government, Rep. Marriottt said he will raise the needed revenue by expanding the economic base across the state. Local BHS student recognized for skill in home economics Beth Ann Cox, of, jManderfleld, recently participate in the STAR Events recognltion program at the National Leadership Meeting of Future Homemakers of America in Chicago, Illinois, July 16 - 19. Two hundred and twenty young men and women were chosen to participate in this national -- level program in four major categories; job application and interview, chapter activities, illustrated talks, and food service. Beth Ann, who will be asophmore at Beaver High School and is the daughter of Kenneth LaVar and Cox, received a 2 STAR Award. La-R- Her medal was ae presented at a luncheon honoring all participants at Chicagos famous Palmer House Hotel, on Wednesday, July 18. Beth Ann competed in the illustrated talks event in which she spoke on the topic of Different Four Fun Filled Days, Aug. 8 Flower Arrangement Designs. Presentations were evaluated by such criteria as contest, organization, delivery, effectiveness of visual aids and completeness of the accompanying information packet. The STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events program of Future Homemakers of America is based on the belief that all people can be winners.
