Of course theres always Horton the Faithful and Hogles famous liger Shasta (shes 18 years old this year.) Feeding time is an excitmg part of the zoo. Dept c 1 II -- Jll r ""TfnnrrriT Felines are fed at 10:15 A.M. and 3:15 P.M.; chimpanzees at 3:30 P.M.; penguins, 4 P.M.; elephants, 2:30 P.M.; and the food gets delivered to monkey island at 3 P.M. Visitors, too, may feed all of the mammals except the sea lions, harbor seals, river otters and penguins. If you do bring a snack to share with the animals, Hogle Zoo asks that you bring fresh food animals dont like mold on their bread either. joq OPEN YEAR ROUND An education with a sprinkling of fun thats what a zoo is And if you think youre well educated on all 182 animal species and all 665 different mammals, birds and reptiles making their homes in 103 exhibits at Hogle Zoo, then go to the zoo just for fun. August 14 to 21 is 'Know Your Zoo Week, and a full week of fun has been planned. Each year the zoo adds something new, and this year is no exception. A new chimpanzee and gibbon are enjoying their new home in the Great Ape Building. The zoo has received new birds and new parrot families.
