| Show the entire state ticket is elected and taft and sherman electors chosen by the opponents of democracy salt lake city the state of utah lined up in the republican column on tuesday the taft electors having a plurality of 20 to 25 estimated while william spry was elected gov arnor having received 15 more votes than knight according to latest figures the legislature will be al most solidly republican insuring the return of reed smoot to the senate joseph howell was returned to con gress by a handsome majority while the entire state ticket has been elected A statement issued by william spry governor elect is as follows I 1 am very well satisfied with the result it I 1 an evidence that the people are satisfied to continue the era of prosperity which they have en joyed under republican adminis tra eions it Is also gratifying that so many republican members of the american party have returned to their former affiliations this Is an evidence ol 01 the beginning of the end for that party I 1 cannot but commend the stand which many of the democrats have taken in salt lake county and the magnificent public spirit and real patriotism which they have thus dis played further I 1 congratulate the 27 counties of the state on the splendid victory in which all have assisted in salt lake county the american vote was about 1 less than a year ago and the republican vote in the city w nearly 6 more than a year ago the democratic vote in the county was larger than anticipated the dem getting 7 for knight and 4 for burbidge in the city anc polling over 1 votes in the count districts outside the city in salt lake city a total of avei 27 votes were cast and in the county outside of the city nearly 10 were polled tatt carried thu city by 4 spry by 3 ovel knight and 2 over street kneght leads the democratic county and state ticket by about 3 and spry runs about 1 behind his ticket thebe publican county candidates carried the city by from 1200 to 1800 over the americans |
