of literature at a nearby university and has no knowledge of the fashion industry Eddie always gets what he wants We soon find out why O’Neal is there He falls in love with Eddie’s wife at their first meeting in a ridiculous "love at first sight” scene so that Eddie can chase him around acting like a jealous huband for the rest of the movie If all of this sounds predictable bland and like you have seen it all before you are correct The only novelty about this film is the pair of transparent jeans that saves the business Ryan O’Neal is a wet washcloth in his role The only real decision he makes during the film is to make love to Eddie’s wife regardless of the consequences He is in the film only to serve as a target for Eddie's anger and frustration So Fine just isn’t funny only one or two laughs are generated throughout the entire film The jokes and gags are too few and when they are attempted they fall flat One interesting thing about So Fine Jack Warden’s face is “red" throughout the movie Not pink but red There are several explanations to be offered concerning his color The first may be that the makeup artist is into red heavily but no one else was red The second reason deals with sunburn but that theory holds little water because the film is set dur- ing the winter I favor the third possibility Jade Warden has turned in some very fine performances during his long career and being the actor that he is he might have seen the film going the same route of his fictional business down the toilet and his embarrassment became evident You may not leave the theater with a red face but you will surely regret wasting two hours of your life |
