University honors Price man Law library fund named for Jerry Anderson The University of Utah College of Law recently launched a law library fund campaign in memory of the late Jerry R. Andersen, a Price native and former law professor. Before his death last year he was U. of U. academic vice president. The purpose of the campaign is to assist the law library with its ongoing acquisitions program, which has been curtailed because of budget cuts. The library the most law used in the state widely library assists law and undergraduate students, lawyers, and other individuals seeking legal information. ; Andersen was bom in Price, Utah, on" October 29, 1933. He received his B.S. from the University of Utah and graduated first in his class from the College of Law in 1957. He then did graduate work in law at Columbia serving as an assistant professor of law from 1957 to 1959. In 1963, after serving as assistant general counsel to Texas Gulf Sulphur Company in New York City, he returned to the College of Law as an associate professor. He became a full professor in 1967, a position he held until his death on June 14, 1982. From 1969 to 1973, Professor Andersen also served with distinction as academic vice president of the University of Utah. Attorney James B. Lee, chairman of the Jerry R. Andersen Memorial Library Fund Campaign, said recently, Jerry Andersen was one of the great teachers of, law. His dedication to the University of Utah and to the College of Law was complete. I hope his students and friends will join us in remembering Jerrys contributions to the state and to its citizens by assisting in the development of the Law Library a project HELPER Butch Cassidy Days, commemorating the Utah outlaws daring holdup of of the Pleasant Valley Coal Company at Castle Gate in 1897, will take place Friday and Saturday in Helper. Activities in the celebration will include a mock gunfights and robberies by a roving gang a of outlaws, contest, Mideastem dancers, a pet show and a Butch Cassidy lookalike contest. The fun begins Friday with a flea market, old time photo booth, street entertainment and outlaws roaming the streets all day. In the evening is a beauty pagent where the Little Miss and Junior Miss of Carbon County will be selected. The contest will take place at 7 p.m. in the Sally Mauro School. Later Friday evening, the movie Denver & Rio Grande will be presented in the Helper Civic Auditorium at 8 p.m. On Saturday the movie will be pie-eati- ng .
