She will be honored at the wid- ow, she has resided in Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Helper for The ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus held their regular meeting at the Notre Dame church hall on March 11. Rose Perrero, club president, welcomed the members and conducted the business meeting. Guest speaker was Betty Kobe, R.N., who showed a film from the American Cancer Whos in Society entitled Charge? The film dealt with the hazards of smoking and the quality of life. A question and answer period followed. Mrs. Kobe handed out pamphlets on prevention and the importance of early diagnosis in the many ye- ars. She is of the United Methodist Church in Price and has one daughter, Caroline. She is a past matron of Naomi Order of the Chapter Eastern Star. She has been a member of that organization for 50 years. She has served as president of the Helper Womens Club for two terms, and as treasurer for one term. She has served on many committees, worked on civic projects, has served as No. 13, judge of elections, provided rides for people to go to the polls to vote and has called to remind them. Her hobbies include gar . treatment of cancer. Two members of the auxiliary were congratulated for being nominated for Catholic Woman of the Year award. They are Minnie Bonacci of St. Anthonys in Helper and Julia Warren of the Good Shepherd Church in East Carbon City. At the close of the meeting, dessert was served by Julie Pezcuh and Susan Cartwright. The next meeting is scheduled for April 19. St. Anthony's Altar Society St. Anthonys Altar Society held its regular meeting on March 9 with President June Passarella presiding. Mrs. Passarella introduced Steve Smith, an energy advisor with Mountain Fuel Supply Co., who spoke on saving energy. As an energy specialist, he was able to give many energysaving tips that would make residents homes more energy efficient. The next meeting will be at Ramona Milano chaired the kitchen committee for the St. 7:30 p.m. April 13 in the Patricks Day Card Party fund- hall. raiser. Members also voted to donate Members cents per person each meeting for the Sub for Santa program. 50 Members of the Balanced Rockers Good Sam Club held their January meeting at the Senior Citizens Center. A delicious variety of potluck was enjoyed by all. A report on the Sub for Santa program was given by committee members Elaine Jensen and Maida Nicolavo. The program provided a needy family with warm clothes for Christmas. The club had donated $200 for the occasion. The gifts were delivered Christmas Eve with each gift wrapped separately with the childs name on it. The club had no meeting in February as too many of its snowbirds had flown south. The March meeting was held at the Senior Citizens Center with Henry and Emma Garcia and Louise and Desmond Peckham as hosts. A delicious potluck dinner was served to the 35 in attendance. President Leonard Leatham called a short meeting after lunch and members signed a get well card for state director Durward Nelson who had suf Castle Country Retired Persons The Castle Country chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) held a very constructive meeting on March 10. There was a 100 percent increase in membership noted at the meeting. Officers urged all citizens 55 and older to attend and join this new organization. With cooperation, we can all benefit by attending these meetings," said Jack Trathen of the groups public relations committee. Trathen said people from both Carbon and Emery counties are welcome to participate in the business and fun of the organization. All senior citizens who belong to the national chapter are urged to join the Castle chapter. Country Membership is $3 per year.
