Rising costs and time commitments forced them to reluctantly make the decision to discontinue to sponsor the rodeo. Other ideas discussed at the meeting included a contest, Barbecue King contest, softball tournament, 4-- H 1983 Chairman Leonard stays on as past president and will take over the International Days celebration. He is sure to keep the Chamber involved in sponsoring seminars and events for the business community. The Chamber has grown in recognition during the last year due to his efforts. He is director of Continuing Education at CEU. The Chamber didnt want to see this age-ol- d tradition die so we began to put on the rodeo. We had a very slow beginning since most of us knew very little about rodeos. We were able to get help from everyone in the county and since then have been able to put on a pretty good celebration. In a way, Im glad the posse gave up the rodeo to us because it caused us to put the county fair and rodeo together and form the International Days celebration, which involves and entertains the entire county.
