Show Wednesday, May 5, club notes Clubs meet at convention American Legion Auxiliary The Eastern District of the Utah Federation met in Price April 24 for its annual spring convention. President Ann Pool presided over the gathering at the College of Eastern Utah Student Center. The Price Sorosis Club was hostess with Pat Craig in charge. Green River, Moab, Helper and Price club members attended the conference. Fay Myers, UFWC president, was the guest of honor and gave the keynote address. Ludean Long, UFWC corresponding secretary, and Jeanne Konishi, UFWC historian, were also among the special guests. Etta Diamanti, GFWC International Hostess; Jeanette McAlpine, UFWC The Arts chairman; and Myrtle Bryner, UFWC CPR chairman, were introduced. The Rev. John P. Athas gave the invocation and Price Mayor Art Lee Martines extended a welcome. Moab Womens Literary Club won a GFWC Lucite plaque for community improvement of the Senior Citizen and Civic Center in Moab. Jeanette McAlpine, Price Sorosis membership chairman, was awarded a china dish from WFWC chairman, Rosamond Ballard, for initiating the most new members during 1981-8with Ludean Long, presenting. Mrs. Myers installed the following officers for 1982-8Palma Jacobs, president; Pat Craig, first vice president; Etta Diamanti, second vice president; Alice Anderson, secretary; Simone Howlett, treasurer; Ann Bonacci, historian; and Myrtle Bryner, auditor. Trudy Beutler of the Price Sorosis Club was at the luncheon. Mary Cunningham, accompanied by Frances Cunningham, sang three numbers and Miss Beutler gave a dramatic reading. Lucille Silliman, district Club Woman of the Year chairman, presented the following winners: Scott Anderson, Green River; Wanda Johnson, Helper; Ann Pool, Moab; and Pat Craig, Price. Mrs. McAlpine presented The Arts district awards to the following members: Poetry: Hilda Unger, first and second; Marilyn Rose and Jo Baxter, third; Painting: landscape, Jo Baxter, first and second; floral, Margaret Garavaglia; Still life: Jo Baxter, first; Stained glass and photography: Shirley Rogers, first; Quilting: Maxine Murphy, first; Knitting: Jo Baxter, first; Crocheting: Terry Chaney, first; Evelyn Varner and Liz Hoff, second ; . An installation tea was served by Green River Womens Club and Moab Womens The LaSalle dining room was the setting for the April 22 meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary. Twelve ladies were in attendance for the dinner and business meeting. Beth Ellis brought a dessert which everyone enjoyed. Vice President Arlene Chavez conducted the meeting. Ada Riche led the group in prayer. Liz Bonza gave the financial report. The minutes were read by Beth Zupon in the absence of Mary Vigor. It was announced that the girls chosen for Girls State are April Donahue, Mary Marie Bigelow and alternate Micha Lodeserto. The girls will be sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Lady Elks and the Helper Fire Department. During the evening, a get well card was signed by all the members for Mary Vigor who recently had surgery. Poppy Day chairman, Mary Lupo, said she hopes everyone will support Poppy Day May 15 as well as they have in previous years. The door prize was won by Mary Lupo. The next meeting of the season will be at the LaSalle May 27. New officers will be installed at this meeting. of Womens Club Castleview Hospital Auxiliary The Castleview Hospital Auxiliary was well represented at the convention of the Western Hospital Association in San Francisco last week. Twelve members attended the convention at the Hilton Hotel and the Moscone Convention Center. Those who attended were: Norma Baker, Lois Bills, Geneva Black, Gertrude Buchanan, Allie Christensen, Loma Davis, Marion Gonsowsky, Helen Markosek, Helen Schmidt, Fern Meredith, Bea Thompson and Rose Vuksinick. Loma Davis, past president of the auxiliary, has accepted the position of historian for the State of Utah Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. This announcement was made recently by Juanita Flake, state toast-mistre- ss 1984 $25. This includes bus fare from Pressure; noon Chili the Senior Center in Beans; 2 p.m. Games Price to Elko, one at N.H.; 7:30 p.m. Art nights room (two to a Class. room) and back to 11, Price.
