The bride is a graduate of Kearns high and also Salt Lake community college with a AAS. degree in business management. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Walker, West Valley City, and a graduate of Kearns high. He also graduated from Chuck-A-Ram- SLCC with an A.S. degree in electronic technology and was president of the LDSSA Institute. He served an LDS mission to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Assisting the bride were Gail Fielding, Jennifer, Any, Kim, Kristen, Kelly and Katie Peterson and Brittany Fielding. Flower was Allison girl Brinkerhoff and Kaelyn Brinker-hof- f was at the guest book. Assistants to the groom were Brent Poulton, Michelle and Kelly Walker. Jones Dual Celebration For DonLillian Cartwright In honor of their parents 40th wedding anniversary and their return from serving an LDS mission to Harrisburg, Pennsyl- vania, the family of Don and Lillian Cartwright are hosting an open house on Sunday, Sept. 18 at their home, 5571 Elaine Avenue, West Valley City. , Family and friends are being invited to call between the hours of 1 and 7 p.m. Don and Lillian were married on Sept. 3, 1948 in Salt Lake City and the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22, 1958. They returned home from their mission on Aug. 31. They had worked in the office as finance commissarian and secretary, vehicle coordinator under the direction of Mission President Dale Dransfield. They will make their report on Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Hunter Stake Center, 5600 W. 3750 South. Gerald Dondld K. "Jerry or Bud" Cartwright ' was born on NovembdfTlf'l 927 to Gerald and Lillis Cartwright in Salt Lake, graduated from West high in 1945 and served two years in the Navy. He worked for the Kennecott and Mrs. Kendell R. Bingham, of Joseph, Utah, and recent Taylorsville residents, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Brooke, to Alonzo J. Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Jones of Sevier. Mr. Copper smelter for 40 years, retiring in 1985. Some of his jobs included surface foreman, crane operator, inspector, planner, estimater and automotive repair. His LDS church positions have included teacher, Sunday School Elders Quorum president, Stake president, missionary, Stake Mission president, High counselor, High Priest group leader and Bishopric counselor. Lillian ValRee Roberts was bom Aug. 19, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, to Frank and Ellen Roberts. She moved to Salt Lake in 1941 and graduated from West high in 1946. She worked in accounts payable at ZCMI for 10-1- 2 years, retiring in March, 1987. She has worked in various LDS Church organizations including Primary, MIA, Relief Society and on the Stake Board of Primary and MIA. At the time of their mission call they were ward missionaries. They are the parents of six children: Lana, Valarie, David and Carol,' all of the Salt Lake area, Kathlene of Evanston, Wyoming and Beverly of Las Vegas. They have 30 grandchildren. Miss Bingham graduated from Kencondaigua and Academy Granger LDS Seminary in 1985 and is now attending Utah Valley Community College, majoring in family counseling. Seminary and has filled an LDS mission to Minnesota. He has been engaged in dairy farming with his father and is brother and presently attending Weber State College and working at the University of Utah Medical Center. They are planning a September 17 wedding in the Manti LDS Temple and will be honored that evening at a reception at the Joseph Hall in Joseph, Utah from 7 until 9 p.m. Her fiance is a 1981 graduate of They will continue their studies South Sevier high, the LDS at Weber State College this fall. Laura Mortensen Honored On 80th Birthday The family of Laura Mortensen will honor their mother and grandmother on September 23rd, on the occasion of her 80th ' birthday. An open house for family and friends will be held at the G.R. Harmon Building, 3540 So. 40th West, Suite 500, in West Valley City, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Laura was bom September 22, 1908 in Arimo, Idaho and is the mother of three children, Harold (Beverly) McNee and Beverly (Mrs. Keith) McCleerey, both of Murray, and Ray (Gladys) McNee of McCammon, Idaho. Amy Bickham Award Winner In Baton Twirling Amy Bickham, daughter of Jerry and Maureen Bickham of Bennion, recently attended a World Baton Championship Competition at Notre Dame in Southbend, Indiana and returned Alison Michelle Marks Is Now Mrs. Roger Frehner Michelle Marks and Roger William Frehner were united in marriage on September 9th in a double-rin- g ceremony at The Riverboat A reception and dance were given in their honor following the Alison ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael "Mick" Marks of Taylorsville. She is a graduate of attended high, Taylorsville and is Westminster college currently working as a secretary for May Foundry and Machine Company. Out of thirty-seve- n contestants, Amy came in first in the world novice solo championship; placed in the top nation in two other events and received a ninth place medal in both novice hoop batcn and novice fancy strut.
