Batt McDougal McDougal Daniel Royal McDougal and his mother, Hene Beckstead McDougal, have each accepted calls to serve LDS missions and will speak at a farewell meeting on Sept. 18 in the Taylorsville 1st ward, 1365 W. 4800 South, at Brian R. Batt has accepted a call to serve an LDS mission to Hartford, Connecticut and will enter the training center on "r 2:20 p.m. They are inviting friends and 1325 family to their home, Marinwood Ave. from 4 to 7 p.m. following the meeting. Ilene- - Dan Henes parents are Mr. and Mrs. V. Beckstead of South Jordan and she is a graduate of Jordan high. She will enter the Missionary training center on October 26. Her children are Vicke (Mrs. Gordon)- Bartlett, West Jordan; Judy (Mrs. Douglas) Moncur, Prior Lake, Minn.; Randy (Jeanne) Steadman, West Jordan; Claudia (Mrs. Robert) Banfield, Mesa, Arizona; Lynda (Mrs. Eppie) Trujillo, West Jordan; Guy McDougal, Mesa, Arizona and Daniel R. McDougal, Taylorsville. She has 22 grandchildren and Daniel is the son of Hene B. McDougal and the late Daniel W. McDougal of Taylorsville and will Royal enter the training center on Sept. 21. He is a graduate of Taylorsville high where he was in the National Honor society and served on the 198788 Taylorsville high Seminary council. He is an Eagle Scout and has attended Brigham Young University. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Royal V. Beckstead of South Jordan. - one - great-grandchil- d. John Paul Perfili f John Paul Perfili has accepted a call to serve an LDS mission to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and will enter the training center on October 5th. His farewell meeting will be held in the Pleasant Green 3rd ward, 3084 "So. h 8400 West, Sept. 18, at Magna, on Sunday, r 10:50 a.m. The future missionary is the son of Thomas E. and Colleen Perfili and they are inviting friends and family to their home, 3234 So. 8820 West, following the meeting from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. He is a graduate of Cyprus high where he was 1986-8student body president, and has attended Utah State University on a Presidential Leadership scholarship. . He is the grandson of Seth Batt, the late Erma Batt, of Granger, and Lemuel and Roberta Riley of West Jordan. $ tyx Local Baton Twirlers Win National Awards Five Green Sheet area baton twirlers were top winners at the National Baton Twirling Associations world championship contest held at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Shannon Vance, Kearns, won beginning World Strut and novice World 2 Baton, in addition to eight gold medals. Amy Bickham, baton twirler from Bennion Jr. high band won the novice World Solo championship and two gold medals. Winners of five gold medals each were Kathy Anderson, majorette for Taylorsville high; Marci Korth, feature twirler at West Jordan high and Hope Ellefsen of Freemont elementary. The girls are students of NBTAs judge, Kerry Vance, who also directs the Kearns high community school "Smart Stepper Twirlers." The marching group of 70 had a successful summer winning First place in both the Sandy City and Kearns Hometown day parades. Mrs. Vance notes baton registration at Kearns high begins Sept. 6 with classes beginning Sept. 20 and 21. Harding Robert Marks has Royce accepted a call to serve an LDS mission in San Diego, California and will enter the training center on September 21. Darrin J. Harding entered the LDS Missionary Training Center yesterday (Wednesday), Sept. 14th in preparation to serving a mission in southern areas of Tokyo, Japan. His farewell meeting was held ir. the Hunter 6th ward on Sept. 11. The missionary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Jay Harding, and the grandson of Velma Nash, West Valley City and Fred and Afton Harding, Provo. He is a graduate of Cyprus high. His farewell meeting was held on Sept. 11 in the Heritage ward at Granger South Stake Center. The future missionary is the son of Terry and Karen Marks of West Valley City, is a graduate of Granger high and of the U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was student body president of Brockbank jr. high and lettered in basketball and football in senior high. He is now employed by Smiths Food and Drug. His grandmother is Julia Perfili of Magna. She lived in Magna until about 10 years ago when she moved to the Hunter area and built a home next to the very same home where she had been born. Larena enjoys traveling and doing temple work and her which includes handiwork, afghans and needlepoint, have won many ribbons and awards.
