Show 4B Thursday, March THE GREEN SHEET 24, 1988 SCHOOLS Sandburg Students Lengthen Tigers Tail WEST VALLEY. Catching a tiger by the tail is a somewhat dangerous pursuit, but students involved in a reading program at Sandburg elementary have not only caught their tigers tail, theyve pulled and twisted it until it runs along the school halls and even into the principals office. Adding a section to the tigers tail has become the favorite occupation of the Sandburg Tigers a spokesman explained. In an effort to increase reading skills and encourage reading for fun, PTA officers mounted a large tiger in the school hall and told students they could add a piece to his tail for every book they read. The idea soon caught on, and students are vying with each other to add segments of tail, hoping that by the time school gets out in May it will surround the entire school, she said. are children Kindergarten allowed to participate by counting every book their parents or older brothers and sisters read to them. All reading must be done at home and parents are asked to their send notes confirming children have read the books, she added. The class in each grade reading the most books will be declared the grade winner and attend a tiger party at the end of the school year. Are all Funeral Homes alike?
