Show 6B THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, December3, 1987 Vocations Highlighted At Granger WEST VALLEY. Students in voca- tional home economic classes at Granger high recently participated k in a program dealing with job prepartion and career decisions. Teachers invited professionals from throughout the Salt Lake Valley to visit with and speak to students about current issues in regards to the career world. Students learned about careers including food service, child care, interior design and the clothing industry. Participants included, among others, Max Mercier, president of the Beehive State Chefs and Cooks Association; Tim Hackworth, a chef at the Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Country Club and Paul Mix, manager of Raging Waters. Teachers involved in the program said they felt having professionals from outside the school speak on the various issues validates and reinforces what is taught in the classroom, noted teacher Cindy James. Exposing students to people actually involved in the various fields gives them the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from those who handle the tasks day by day, she remarked. two-wee- READING BRICKS . . .
