Show IB Signs Learning America's Traditions A Refugee Challenge reside in the same area in West Valley as the Ban You family Sakhan is an example of how refugees can learn to become part of the mainstream m America She says she and her five chldren learned the language together Shortly after arriving here she worked at Redwood school as a volunteer to help the refugee students and then became a full time teacher aid m Granite district, where she worked Vk years, going to different shcools to help the refugees with English For three years she has worked for the State Dept of Social services Her children are all doing well in school now, although it was a struggle at first Three of them are getting straight A grades, she proudly announces Her husband Senghean Lay (she has taken her husbands name) is employed as a machine operator at Facet Automotive Filter Co Sakhan has found happiness and success in her new land, thoguh she to is still getting accustomed American traditions She hopes her fellow Cambodians will do the same They can with some help and some understanding by Helen Glissmeyer Green Sheet Staff H nter WEST VALLEY.
