Show IB Open House-Fiv- e GRANITE PARK. Five homes, built by students enrolled in Granite School Districts vocational education classes, will be on display tomorrow (Friday) through May 19. The homes will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays, from 1 to 8 p.m. weekends. All work was done by students under the direction of teachers, with decorating by home economic students. A story home built lf by Kearns students is located at 5293 Hoopes Circle, and offers a view of the valley and the Wasatch Mon-tain- The home offers 1550 square feet of space with three bedrooms, two baths, free standing stove, dishwasher and disposal, patio, halfbasement and double car garage. The family room features a fireplace and opens into the patio. Asking price is $73,000. Here is pother slap in the face, seniors (just a figure of speech of course). The present senior and junior class officers were introduced to their successors last week. Congratulattions to John Thorpe, who will be taking on the entire senior class. John will not do it alone, though. Finally, after fighting a tough battle (in the preliminaries there was a five-watie', Hai Nguyen and Lisa Whitlock came out on top as the new A L.O. officers. Who said that a sophomore could never become someone important? (seniors, did you say that? shame, shame) Whoever said it was definitely mistaken. Five very ambitious sophomores proved them wrong. Let us take it from the top: Beating all odds (drum roll please), announcing the new 1987-8junior class officers. The annual Kearns Spring Run-of- f is scheduled Wednesday. This is the fifth year for the race, and proceeds have gone each year to a charitable organization or to assist a Kearns high student, said Mrs Burrows. The first years, proceeds went to help defray expenses for a student who had been involved in an industrial accident at the school, cutting off several fingers. The second year, proceeds went to assist a student who was involved in a jeep accident and was a paraplegic in need of braces. One year, the money was donated to the Muscular Dystrophy fund, and another year to Multiple Sclerosis, she said. The purpose of Pride Week is to develop a feeling of pride between the high school and the community and within the studentbody, said COPE director Elaine Burrows. This has proven a good project in the past and is a good way to end the school year, she added. Activities will include members of VICA painting a widows house, using paint and materials provided through legislator Arlo James, the Kearns Town Council and the United Fund. The week is also designated as drug and alcohol awareness week, and speakers and videos will be presented during lunch periods each day to acquaint as And on Thursday they rested well as a little fingernail bitting.
