Students from Benwon first place in the Granite District Opportunities of the Mind contest held here Thursday. Twenty-eigh- t groups participated in the event, which challenged students to take part in long-terproblem solving activities, said teacher Dean Mattson. Students were challenged in two areas, he said. First, they were given the problem of inventing and producing a game for use with children age 3 to 5 years. Students were given six weeks to prepare their entry, which was also to include a commercial to sell the product. Entries were judged on safety, durability, originality, creative use of materials and were required to cost no more than $15. Students from Mattsons reading class forming the Bennion team were Chad Harding, Katie Anderson, Nathan Faurschou, Ryan Christensen, Scott Weierman and Shea Frost. The youngsters produced a game titled Learner Pluss, designed to Thursday, April nion elementary Wx4:4 wiH i' :A Vt teach children their colors, numbers, shapes and animals.
