Discover What W orks Best Like many other jobs, painting seems very straightforward - until it's time to do the job itself 3. Do I really need a primer? For unpainted surfaces, yes. An unprimed surface usually will absorb paint; a primer seals the surface and forms a foundation coat for all paints put over it. Flat paint also is a good whole-housextet ior paint. Satin: Satin or flat finishes generally are used for exteriors.
