Marc Lyons troup will next take on Cottonwood in a road game tomorrow (Friday) then slates a home match with Skyline Tuesday. meanwhile, Cyprus, plays at Granger tomorrow and hosts Cottonwood Tuesday. All of the above games will start at 3:30 p.m. In its game with Cyprus, Olympus got another solid pitching performance reliever Brian Hill, who, after coming on in to start the third inning, gave up just three hits and no runs, while striking out four. The Titans did most of their damage in the top of the first inning, scoring four runs. Gary Ogden tripled in one run, Hill doubled in another Farmer Rally Clips Eagles' ... Coach Reardon pointed out that along with Binghams fine pitching the play of Randy Wright at catcher was outstanding and that Mark Niederhauser and David Davis each scored two runs for this team. Glenn Dunyon homered in the first and Todd Funderburk singled in another run as Kearns took a lead in the first. Dunyon then doubled in two more runs in the second, while Peterson had an RBI triple in the third to account for the Cougars five runs. Peterson gave up only three hits and his team collected nine off Skylines Heugley and Murdock. Kearns was guilty of only one error while their opponents were charged with four. Kearns is now 1 in league play while Skyline dropped to 3-- Cyprus Granite 5, 1 Two runs in the first inning and three in the second were more than enough as the Cyprus Pirates beat in a game the Granite Farmers, at community Park here Tuesday afternoon. The Farmers had jumped out to a lead in the top of the first when David Davis singled, stole second and third, and scored on a hit by Paul Gines. In Cyprus two-rusecond, Paul Allen stroked an rbi double. Then in the bottom of the second, Bill Robbs hammered a three-rutriple. Eric Richards pitched the whole game for Granite while Lohmeyer 0 n n Fourth Inning Burst COTTONWOOD. A ten-,ru- n explosion in the bottom of the ifourth inning erased a Kearns lead and gave the Cottonwood Colts their first win of the season, here on Friday. Sean Veazie, the starting pitcher for Kearns, had pitched shutout ball through the first three innings, but in the fourth the roof fell in. Cottonwood brought the score to with a series of basehits and errors sandwiched around walks. With two out and the bases full, John Harris singled in the tying and go ahead runs. Two infield errors then allowed runs seven and eight to score, then winning pitcher Bob Helm tripled to deep right to drive in two more and give the Colts the lead. Kearns did not score again until the seventh when they picked up two more runs, but Cottonwood had in 0 16-- 4 10-- 5 creased their lead with an RBI ble by Aubrey Matthews, while Chad Fletcher doubled in two in the sixth. Helm received poor support with the Kearns team having 11 hits, but his teammates were guilty of six errors while the Kearns team was making four. He also led his team in hitting with a triple and two singles, and was helped in his pitching by the fact that he walked only two. Lonnie Anderson relieved Veazie in the fourth and also had a good game at bat, getting a triple and a single in three at bats. Glen Dunyon had a double and single for Kearns while Daren Bills stroked a triple and a single. Mike Peterson had two singles for the cougars. For the Colts along with Helms three hits, Greg Carroll, Chad Fletcher, Dean Schmidt and Matthews each had two hits. Olympus 5, Granger 4 Alan Whites single up the middle following a triple by Todd Holsten gave the Olympus Titans another close win as they defeated Granger 4 on the home field on Tuesday. Olympus had opened the scoring in the first when two walks plus a sacrifice bunt put men on second and third and a groundout by Hill scored one and Ryan Losser then singled in the second run. Oly scored two more in the third on an error and a walk plus a double by Brian Hill. Granger evened the score at four in the top of the fourth when a walk, an error and a two run single by Steve Embley tied the game at four, which it remained until Whites hit in the sixth. Kelly Peterson pitched well for Granger, giving up only six hits, while Brent Burton pitched three and two thirds for Olympus and was relieved by Brian Hill who pitched well in relief and got credit for the win.
