Tonight (Thursday), for example, there is a volleyball game against Cyprus at home, the golfers are scheduled for tonight and the JV and sophomore football teams both have games. All of these decisions, and to make things even tougher, they all start at 3:30. Lance should be quite busy today. Theres a very interesting class that is keeping a lot of students busy. Not only does it benefit the students by teaching them about child care, but it benefits the community as well, the child development classes are running two preschools. Scheduled to leave Kearns junior high at 6 p.m., the parade will move west along 5400 South to Cougar Lane, then up the hill to the high school. Also included in the lineup will be the school band, various clubs and tober through January. The preschool gives students experience with children to prepare them for parenthood or occupations dealing with child development. It also gives moms in the West Valley area time to do their own things. The cross country team took third place in a meet at Skyline behind a tough Olympus and Skyline team which have been practicing since early this summer. Our team, however, has only been practicing since the beginning of school. The cross country meets are held every Tuesday at 3:30. The team is under the direction of Coach Scofield. All my luck in future meets, Im sure youll be able to run your way to victory. There was a lot of hysteria at Monday when a garbage can in one of the lower halls caught fire. The entire building was evacuated and the fire department was called in to put out the fire and clear the smoke out of the hall.
