I certainly hope that you had a peachy summer and are rarin to get back to the books 1 know 1 am. Theres so much to look forward to this year - waking up early, term papers and, of course, school lunch. Seriously, student officers are psyched to get the year going. To start off the fun is the Hello Day assembly tomorrow (Friday) morning, which should be full of interesting (?) things. Then, tomorrow night is our first official football game here against Taylorsville. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and admission is free with an activity card. After last weeks exciting e victory over South in overtime, we hope the Pirate team can continue. The team needs your support, even if you dont know the difference between the line of scrimmage and the line to the concession stand. Just come out and cheer. Following the game is the first of this years social events, the annual Hello Day stomp. Dance to your favorite tunes for only $2 with an activity card, or $4 without, in the most hip spot we could find, the Commons Area. Its gonna be wild, so dont miss out. Sophomores, do you feel a bit left out? If so, why not get involved and -- pre-leagu- KEARNS. Hello activities at Kearns high will include a School Song Day, designed to encourage students to sing the school song. Posters, each showing sections of the song, are placed in various areas of the school and any student singing it to a student body officer or cheerleader will receive a prize. The Kearns madrigals have videotaped the song for use on the schools TV morning news program. As students entered school Tuesday they were invited to sign their name on a Cougar paw. The paws, green for seniors, yellow for juniors and white for sophomores, were then placed on walls. Student body officers were at doors to greet students and hand each a pencil engraved with the theme for the year, KHS - on the move, Hello week will climax with a stomp to be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) in the school activity room. Homecoming celebrations will be held Sept. 3, recognizing Kearns highs 20th anniversary. Student body officers include Maka Havili, president; Jerry Gibson, vice president; Tammy Taylor, second vice president; Araceli Rojas, secretary; Cindy Smith, historian; Jon Rampton, attorney general; Lisa Howell and Curt Allred, ASK representatives; Debbie McGuire, head cheerleader. Elaine Burrows is faculty adviser. Farnsworth Hunter School Planning To Host Carnival Sets Session For Tuesday acGRANGER. tivities will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Farnsworth elementary. A short PTA meeting will include election of a nominating committee for next years PTA officers. PTA president Michelle Riggs will introduce board members and principal Rose Coshow will introduce faculty members and a conduct a slide presentation. This is the 20th year for Farnsworth school and plans are being made for a year long celebration, beginning with a birthday party scheduled for Sept. 19, a PTA spokesman said. . ! . . There has been quite a discussion over the new activity fee enacted this year. To clear up any confusion, here are the facts. True, to receive your activity card, you must pay $15. But, the cards are good for more than one activity. They will get you into games, dances and other activities throughout the year for less, saving you much more than the $15 they cost. A Musical Hello is planned for students at Granger -- -- 14-- -- -- 8-- decorating the halls, according to adviser Sandra Woodward, including classical, jazz and country. The traditional Hello Week assembly will be held during the afternoon and activities will climax with a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. in Stonehenge. A year of involvement has been chosen as a theme for the year as student body officers hope to get all students involved and made to feel a real part of the school, the adviser said. After 2 months of fun in the sun, I hope youre all ready to get back in gear and clear up the cobwebs that have accumulated in your brains. Three days of school have passed, and you know what that means? Only 177 days left. Winning our first football game of the season started off the year with a bang. Our football team is on its way to another winning season with a victory of 36-- 7 over Woods Cross. The next game is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) against Granite on the Farmers field. Come show your Lancer pride and cheer our team on to another victory. A Musical Hello was the theme for Hello Week. Various groups were given a certain style of music to use as a base for decorating their hall. This made for colorful hallways to welcome students back. The moment youve all been waiting for is tonight. Yes, you guessed it, the Hello Stomp. It will be held in Stonehenge from p.m. The stomp will be a lot of fun and it will give you and your summer-los- t friends time to catch up on things. To finalize Hello Week, there will be an assembly tomorrow. It will be a p.m. assembly, so come on out and see it. With all of the excitement of Hello Week, something else is keeping some of our ambitious sophomores busy. Sophomore elections are coming up.
