Show IB THE GREEr: SHEET District Reveals Winners Of Annual Art Competition GRANITE PARK, Names of students who were winners in the Granite School Districts 27th annual art show have been announced. Winners at the high school level include Shannon Smith and Kristina Reynolds, Granite high, best of show. The Clyde G. Smith memorial cup was awarded to Jeff Murray of Cottonwood and the Delbert Smedley memorial cup went to Greg Pierson of Taylorsville. Kristina Reynolds won the H. Edward Neslen cup and Brandy Lynn Nielson of Cyprus the Mike Obray, Cyprus; Brett Tatton, Taylorsville, tied for third place. Painting division winners included Adam Vanzomeren, Cottonwood, first place; Paul Quilter, Skyline, second place; Shawna Buswell, Taylorsville and Marilyn Openshaw, Granger, third place tie. In the jewelry division, winners were Angela Renner, Granite, first place; Tyler Bowen, Cyprus, second place; Derek Redmond, Cyprus, third place. Winning in the graphics division were Han Vu, Granger, first place; Greg Haws, Taylorsville and Brian Chapman, Cottonwood, second place tie; Jeff Davis, Cyprus, third place. In the sculpture division winners were Jerry Sellers, Granite, first place; Leslie Yedinak, Granite, second place. The chairmans award went to Angela Renner. The Nancy Rosenblatt awards, $120 Salt Lake Art Center tuition, was awarded Shan Euray Anderson second first place; Ben Clayton, Eisenhower, second place; Scott Taylor, Valley, third place. Winners in graphic arts were Marie Young, Eisenhower, first place; Sonny Taylor, Eisenhower, seocnd place; Tony Ho, West Lake, third place. Winning in the drawing one division were Tony Ho, West Lake, first place; Ryan Stewart, Evergreen, second place; Mark Mamales, West Lake, third place. In drawing two, Eisenhower, 5, 1986 Mike Worthen, Eisenhower, first place; Lee Phong, Eisenhower, second place; Tiffany Smith, Eisenhower, third place. Winners in the crafts division were Mike Hill, Bennion, first place; Mike Worthen, Eisenhower, second place; Kathy Eaton, West Lake, third place. First place winners in the junior high division received $25. Mike Worthen of Eisenhower received best of show honors and $100. AV SPECIAL FATHER'S medalion. Winners in the photography division included Shannon Smith, Granite, frist place; Doug Moore, Taylorsville and Daren Forsberg, Cyprus, non Smith, Greg Haws and Kristina Reynolds. Winners in the junior high division included ceramics and sculpture, Robert Finlinson, Wasatch, first place; Lorin Lubb, Hunter, second place; Chris Mohn, Eisenhower, third place. In tile painting, Tom Jaeckel and Brian Jacobs, West Lake, first place; Mike Worthen, Eisenhower, second place; Jeff Brohamer, Eisenhower, third place. The annual spring banquet of Granite District Counselors Assn, was held last week in the University of Utah alumni hall. Governor Norman Bangerter was the guest speaker. Counselor of the Year awards were presented to Andrea Alger of Cottonwood high, high school level, with 450 students assigned to her care; Bonnie Nielsen, Valley, junior high level, who presently counsels 485 students; Helen Hadley, Monroe and Bacchus elementaries, with about 1,600 students; Mary Jane Stevens, Gourley and Mornirigside elementaries, with about 1,300 students assigned to her. Counselors not only carry on their duties in their office, but also take time, as rquested by teachers, to make presentations in the classrooms, an association spokesman commented. Also receiving recognition were Ralf Riches and Clive Jensen, for past services to the counseling program, along with two retirees, Dave Barton and Elizabeth Sullivan. Elected to serve as officers of the association for the coming year were Nancy Hardy, president; AnLinda drea Alger, president-elect- ; ' Briggs, senior high vice president; Bonnie Nielsen, junior high vice president and Pam Smith, elementary school vice president, with June Viavant as secretary.
