Promised Valley Playhouse will launch its most ambitious summer schedule ever with a festival of LDS plays and musicals in all three of its theaters, announced Thomas Parker, the Playhouses general manager. Don Oscarson and Maughan W. McMurdies City of Joseph, a scaled-dow- n version of the Nauvoo pageant that tells the story of Nauvoo in song, will kick off the LDS Theater 12 in the Festival June Little Bowery on the third floor of the Playhouse. It will run Monday at 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a 4 p.m. matinee on Saturday. The Ark, a brand-nechildrens musical based on the Bible story of Noah and the flood, will premiere 30 in Plum Alley. Written by Michael McLean and Kevin Kelley, it runs Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Plum Alley is a environmental theater located Just north of the box office. Like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, its a fun telling of a Bible story, said Dtrec-to- r David C. Maxwell. The audience will be the animals. The characters will seat them in the ark as the show begins. The Light of the World and One Fold, One Shepherd, both by Joanne Parker and Madelyn Larsen, will run in repertory (every other day) on The Mainstage July 30. A return from last summer, The Light of the World presents the role of the Savior from the Creation through the Second Coming. One 90-se- ington, will run in the Little Bowery 23. Bruce Ackerman, July who originated the role, will again play J. Golden Kimball, one of the most colorful figures to ever sit in the high counsels of the LDS Church. The very name J. Golden Kimball conjures up phrases and paraphrases, spicy accounts, salty anecdotes and humorous stories, said Arrington. In fact, in a group if one tells a J. Golden story, it will inevitably be followed by someone else recalling another and another and so on. Such was the legacy of this unique and memorable man. He and his memory belong to that mystifying group of people called folk he added. heroes, J. Golden will play Monday at 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a 4 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Ticket prices for festival productions range from $3 to $5. A Family Night Special is offered for the 6 p.m. Monday performances on The Mainstage and Little Bowery. The Mainstage family pass costs $20 for families ($3 for each additional person after six members) . The price for the Little Bowery family ticket is $25 ($4 for each additional person after six members). Special group rates are also available. The Lake Bonneville of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have chapter disbanded are their organization and now affiliated with the DARs Uintah chapter. Members of the group come from all areas of the Salt Lake Valley and meet at the East Millcreek Library, 2266 E. 3465 South, at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
